Illinois again sets monthly record cannabis sales

For the fourth straight month, Illinois has increased its recreational sales of cannabis.
The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation announced that adult use of cannabis set another monthly record in total sales.
In June, Illinois dispensaries totaled $47,646,437.25 in adult-use cannabis sales.
In-state resident sales broke another with 994,545 items sold for a total of $35,256,165.45, which more than Illinois’ entire sales for the month of February.
Out-of-state residence sales also hit a record number at $12,390,271.80.
June’s total sales are $3 million more than May’s total sales.
In May, retailors totaled $44,317,385.72 in adult-use cannabis sales, which was more than $4 million more than Illinois’ first month record-breaking sales of $39,247,840.83.
Illinois dispensaries totaled $37,260,497.89 in adult-use cannabis sales in April.
These figures do not include taxes collected.
Medical and adult use cannabis dispensaries remained open as part of the “essential businesses and operations” named in Governor Pritzker’s executive order signed on March 20.
In May, Illinois officials announced the use of $31.5 million of cannabis tax revenue to fund restorative justice grants to communities harmed by the drug war.
Medical Cannabis Sales
Retail sales of medical cannabis for June totaled $29,652,555.16, including $13,731,142.25 in dry flower sales and $15,921,412.91 in concentrates/infused-products.
Licensed medical cannabis dispensaries served 58,229 unique patients, who purchased 988,889 grams of dry cannabis.
Despite recreational cannabis increase each month, medical cannabis sales have decreased from May.
Retail sales of medical cannabis for May totaled $32,060,899.28, including $14,330,657.20 in dry flower sales and $17,730,242.08 in concentrates/infused-products. Licensed medical cannabis dispensaries served 58,936 unique patients, who purchased 1,006,160 grams of dry cannabis.
Illinois currently has 55 licensed medical dispensaries.
Total 2020 retail sales by licensed medical cannabis dispensaries reached $170,992,223.60.
Retail sales since November 2015 by licensed medical cannabis dispensaries totaled $682,290,826.10
Wholesale sales by cultivation centers in 2020 totaled $150,086,032.07.
All sales figures reflect voided sales. Prior to 2017, voided sales were not reflected in these figures.
The Illinois Department of Public Health has approved applications for 121,775 qualifying patients (including 673 persons under 18 years of age), since it began accepting applications for the Medical Cannabis Registry Program on September 2, 2014.
No state bordering Illinois has legalized recreational marijuana.
