Illinois medical cannabis sales for July still not released
Each month, Illinois’ Compassionate Use of Medical Cannabis Program announces medical cannabis sales totals for the previous month.
In August, after several complications with implementing a new online system for medical patients, Illinois still has not announced July medical sales totals.
Medical cannabis sales announcement usually lags behind recreational sales announcement, but Illinois has already announced July and August recreational sales totals.
With Illinois untethering patients to one medical dispensary and recreational dispensary offering discounts to medical patients, Illinois may be having difficulty totaling up all transitions.
Unlike recreational sales, medical sales have been decline, as seen below, for three months, and sales for August had to have suffered from the botched implementation and patient confusion.
The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation recently emailed medical patients an “Important Update for Patients/Applicants” about the Medical Cannabis Patient Program and its new online system today.
The press-release style letter started its first line by “apologizing to all patients who were negatively affected by our difficult conversion to our new system.”
Here are the monthly totals from January to June.
Monthly Totals for 2021:
January: $32,670,476.42
February: $29,579,209.83

April: $35,281,250.08
