The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) recently reported September 2022 medical cannabis sales totals. September continued the trend of consistent monthly 2022 medical cannabis sales between $27 million to $31 million. September medical sales totals again landed on the lower end at $28,055,726.06 and was the lowest monthly totals in 2022 (although August monthly medical sales totals were probably lower but have not been correctly calculated for the public because the totals were incorrectly listed on the Medical Cannabis Patient Program’s website.

September retail sales of medical cannabis included $12,978,574.89 in dry flower and $15,077,151.17 in concentrates/infused-products. Licensed medical cannabis dispensaries served 63,667 unique patients, who purchased 1,118,072 grams of dry cannabis.

August retail sales of medical cannabis included $12,942,949.44 in dry flower and $15,328,896.84 in concentrates/infused-products. Licensed medical cannabis dispensaries served 63,727 unique patients, who purchased 1,100,951 grams of dry cannabis. Instead of the $28,966,586.76 total sales listed for August (July’s actually totals), the August estimated monthly sales should have been slightly less than September’s $28,055,726.06 at around $27.9 million.

For 2022, Illinois’ total medical cannabis sales should have been around $265 million (with the estimated August sales included).

Illinois 2021 sales of medical cannabis totaled $397,249,781.70. Add that to the 2021 recreational cannabis salesof $1,379,088,278.61 for a total of $1,776,338,060.31 in combined medical and cannabis sales.
