Incremental progress is often difficult to measure, so throughout my career, I have implemented a 1-year/5-year rule in which I purposely look back at the goals I’ve set and the progress I’ve made (or not) in the past year and five years. One of those measurements started with Feedspot debuting Illinois News Joint at #56 on the Top 100 Medical Cannabis Blogs on the internet. Five years later, we finally reached one of our goals.

When Illinois News Joint debuted on Feedspot at #56 on the Top 100 Medical Cannabis Blogs on the internet, my goal was to eventually rank in the top 20 behind blogs such as Hight Times, Leafly News, and NORML Blog on Medical Marijuana. At the end of each year, I would check Feedspot to if our ranking had improved. The second year, Feedspot ranked us at #32, and the following year, Feedspot move us up to #22. Recently, Illinois News Joint reached its goal by ranking as the #12 Medical Cannabis Blog on the internet.
