MCAB February meeting to discuss new qualifying conditions
The Medical Cannabis Advisory Board (MCAB) announced today the agenda for its February meeting. The virtual meeting is scheduled for 3:30–5 p.m. Feb. 9. To join the webinar, click here.
During the meeting, the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) will give a short update. Board members then will discuss petitions for the addition of qualifying conditions for patients. Chicago NORML was instrumental in the process that approved three conditions in January 2025 (endometriosis, ovarian cysts, and uterine fibroids). This year, Chicago NORML has submitted petitions to the state to add Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) to the list of qualifying medical conditions.
The agenda has allocated 20 minutes for public comments. Those wishing to provide public testimony will be called in the order in which they register. Each speaker may speak for up to three minutes. Persons who wish to register to speak may contact Janette Candido at Eva-Janette.Candido@Illinois.gov. Members of the public are encouraged to register to use the public comment period for testimony. If time permits, non-registered members of the public will be called upon. If you wish to provide testimony and are not registered, please indicate so using the chat feature.
Individuals making public comment must wait to be recognized. All individuals attending the meeting are to enter their name and affiliation in the chat. Except for the public comment period, participation in board meetings is limited to members, invited guests, and supporting IDPH staff. MCAB also announced March 9 and April 6 as its next two meeting dates.
