Medical Cannabis Advisory Board sets agenda for May meeting
The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), in conjunction with the Medical Cannabis Advisory Board (MCAB), released the May meeting agenda. MCAB is set to host its next meeting from 3-5 p.m. Monday, May 13. The agenda includes discussions regarding four newly proposed qualifying debilitating conditions.
MCAB is considering Ovarian Cyst, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, Uterine Fibroid, and Generalized Anxiety as new qualifying debilitating conditions for medical cannabis patients in Illinois. Board members may vote for the recommendation, against the recommendation, or may abstain. During the March MCAB meeting, MCAB board members took preliminary votes to add two qualifying debilitating conditions, Endometrioses and FOD (Female Organismic Disorder).
Those wishing to provide public testimony will be called in the order in which they register. Each speaker may speak for up to three minutes. Persons who wish to register to speak may contact Janette Candido at Eva-Janette.Candido@Illinois.gov. IDPH also bullet pointed a few new meeting rules, including:
- Except for the public comment period, participation in Board meetings is limited to members, invited guests, and supporting IDPH staff.
- To limit the amount of background noise and avoid talking over, we ask that all board members, invited guests, and members of the public remain muted until being called to speak. Members, please use the hand feature to signify you would like to comment.
- Members of the public are encouraged to register to use public comment period for testimony. If time permits, non-registered members of the public will be called upon. If you wish to provide testimony and are not registered, please indicate so using the chat feature. Individuals making public comment must wait to be recognized.All individuals attending the meeting are to enter their name and affiliation in the chat.
- Please do not use the chat feature with exception of the above.
