MiCannaCast and News Joint compare legal industries
As the Illinois cannabis industry expands and the market becomes more mature, people and businesses in other states are showing more and more interested in how Illinois is handling its first few years of legalization. Recently, cohost Groovee and CannaDave invited me on their podcast MiCannaCast to compare and contrast the Illinois and Michigan cannabis industries.
The episode I appeared on, in which we discussed the differences between Illinois and Michigan laws and more, premiered here July 20, 2022. MiCannaCast is a nationally recognized weekly podcast launched by two native Detroiters in 2018. The hosts of the podcast, CannaDave and Grooveemusic, have been actively engaged in the medical cannabis community for more than a decade.

The goal of the podcast is to advocate, educate, and inspire listeners and viewers who have an interest in cannabis to learn more about the current culture, legislative environment, and cutting-edge technologies used for growing, and sourcing high-quality cannabis for both medicinal and recreational needs. “After college, we were really thinking there was a need for more robust information sharing for the cannabis industry.” CannaDave said. “We desired to create a media company focused on cannabis-based content. In addition, we have always desired to locate top-quality products and inform our loyal CannaFam listeners.”
MiCannaCast, which broadcasts from Pontiac, Michigan, also has two live streams per week. Wake N Bake is streamed Saturdays 9 a.m. EST and TERP Talk Tuesday at 7:10 p.m. EST.
“Generally, we prepare each podcast with a customized list of questions we would like to ask our guests,” CannaDave said. “So it is really a combination of pre-planned questions and freestyle. We like to keep it light, engaging, informative, and fun. Some of our best sessions were ones where the discussion simply took off based on the energy in the room. We’ve had some terrific guests who promoted the industry and their experience and helped our listeners engage on a different level with the material.”
