Review: 3D by Seed & Strain
As a reviewer, I want to sample as many Illinois products and brands as possible, and this year’s High Times Sativa Flower Cannabis Cup Kit included 16 labels, a few of which I had not yet tried. Seed & Strain from Columbia Care had been one of those brands that had eluded me, until now. From the Sativa Flower kit, I pulled the 3D strain for my first Seed & Strain review.
3D is a sativa-leaning hybrid cross of Apollo 13, Jacks Cleaner, and Space Queen. This batch of flower tested at 3.66% CBGa, 0.27% THCVa, 1.08% THC, 28.26% THCa, and 33.28% total cannabinoids. The listed terpenes were β-myrcene at 1.05%, eucalyptol at 0.49%, and valencene at 0.09%.

This gram came as two popcorn-sized, chunky, pointed buds carrying a notably deep-forest-green base color underneath thick, fire-orange hairs. A close trim job left very little sugar leaf and highlighted a trichome layer that had just begun to show signs of ambering. The surface of these buds felt dry to the touch but they left a considerable stickiness on my fingertips when broken down.
The aroma inside the jar was sharp with notes of bergamot, carrot, lime zest, dry hops, and a combination of earth and sweet onion that was reminiscent of freshly harvested scallions. The flavor was more rounded as the lime and earth tone fought for dominance on the palate. The flavor was dense and stuck to the palate long after the exhale.
3D started with an uplifting and cerebral openness and inflammatory relief concentrated in my back and joints. This playful opening to the experience was a good mindset for creative work accompanied by a helpful dose of motivation to actually make it happen.
Eventually, 3D continued to build and, especially with multiple bowls, induced a racy mental state with high-energy levels but a complete inability to focus. Physically, an uplifting euphoria took over and lasted for the better part of an hour. For more Illinois News Joint reviews, visit here.
