I’ve used my cannabis platform to complain about the sheer number of GSC crosses on the menus of almost every dispensary in almost every legal state. I thought I knew the doughy sweet genetics inside and out but Ieso’s Alchemy label has surprised me with a new spin on the classic with its Peyote Cookies Live Resin.

Peyote Cookies is an indica cross of Peyote Purple (a Bubba Kush backcross) and Cookies Kush (GSC X Rolex Kush). This gram of live resin tested at 76.66% THCa and 82.95% total cannabinoids.

This gram came as a mound of deep orange-amber sugar with a lot of terpene heavy sauce incorporated and pooling on the surface. The high moisture content created an easy to use (and fun to play with) gel texture.

The aroma from the jar opened with sweet tropical tones of melon candy, papaya, and overripe guava. As the aroma blossomed, notes of baked cookies, coffee, earth, and cedar came to the surface.

The sweet tropical tones carried into the flavor well. The vapor was dominated by guava, papaya, and melon candy before faint hints of earth and coffee made an appearance. I enjoyed the complexity provided by the terpene profile.

I won’t mince words. Peyote Cookies hit me hard. The indica body buzz started tingling in my chest soon after my first dab before becoming a wave of euphoria that overtook me. A smile overtook my face as all the anxieties of the day slipped away.

After having a few more pieces of Halloween candy than I’d like to admit, I curled up to watch some TV with my kids and promptly fell asleep.

Overall, Peyote Cookies provided a fascinating and delicious flavor profile alongside some of the strongest indica effects I’ve found in Illinois.
