Review: Animal Style by Northern Heights
As a fan of energetic strains, I always get excited when I see brands dropping sativas. I recently stopped at Emerald Lounge and Dispensary in Island Lake where the staff introduced me to Animal Style, a new sativa-leaning release from Northern Heights.
Animal Style is a sativa-leaning hybrid cross of Animal Cookies and Gelato #41. This batch of flower tested at 0.51% THC, 22.54% THCa, and 23.63% total cannabinoids. The top indicated terpenes were limonene at 0.48%, b-caryophyllene at 0.34%, and b-myrcene at 0.16%

A handful of thin foxtail flowers were colored with a dark olive-green-base tone and deep royal-purple sugar-leaf remnants. Each bud was brightened by a thick, solidly milky-trichome frost. The aroma was completely unique. A sharp blend of kerosene and pickled jalapeños hit first, followed by notes of lime peel, lemongrass, leather, and black olives. On the palate the kerosene note persisted, but additional tones of coffee and rose followed. The flavor was thick, clinging to the palate for a long time.
A burst of positivity lifted my mood, joined by a sense of clarity and confidence. Tingles of euphoria traced down my spine and into my legs but tapered down to an overall muscle relaxation quickly. The productive mental clarity stuck with me for more than an hour, securing Animal Style a spot on the Work Sativa list. Animal Style not only delivered an uplifting sativa buzz but paired it with a one-of-a-kind aroma and flavor.
