Review: Apple Fritter Live Budder by Ozone Reserve
By Patsy Marie
Known for making High Times’ 2016 World’s Strongest Strains list, Apple Fritter has always been a potent and reliable cultivar. As someone who is always looking to try another apple strain, I was genuinely excited when I first saw Apple Fritter in February of 2022, just after Ozone first released its concentrate line.
Apple Fritter is a hybrid cross of Sour Apple and Animal Cookies. I purchased this gram of Apple Fritter Live Budder from Hatch Addison after having tried it a year prior and loving it. This batch tested at 79.40% total cannabinoids with 3.48% THC, 73.86% THCa, and 0.17% CBDA. Apple Fritter’s dominant terpenes are limonene, caryophyllene, pinene, and humulene.
The texture and color was exactly what I look for in a Live Budder concentrate. It came as a soft and malleable glob of golden orange. The consistency is perfect for easily scooping and stays on my dab tool without falling off like sugar sometimes can.
Apple Fritter’s aroma was just as prevalent and noticeable as its effects are. It had a scent of sour apple with an earthy, hashy diesel, and gas profile. Upon consuming, I was immediately hit with a sour apple, diesel, and sweet-cheese profile.
This cultivar is a 50/50% hybrid, but it has always affected myself as an 80/20% Indica-dominant strain, which is another thing I enjoy about it. Apple Fritter’s average THC percentages are between 22%-28% THC, which makes it no surprise that it made World’s Strongest Strains list back in 2016. The effects can be described as calming but may also provide some energy and sociability before settling into a moderately sedative body high. Heaviness in the eyes and body can be expected. I tend to reserve it for later in the day, as it can be sleep inducing, especially for those with a lower tolerance.
Oftentimes, it is hard to find a strain that I can depend on to ease your physical or mental symptoms, but I think Apple Fritter from Ozone Reserve should be high up on the list of strains to try if a patient is looking for a reliable, sedating strain that can be used at essentially any time of the day.
