Illinois still has plenty of space for new cannabis product development. One specific area of personal focus has been the use of minor cannabinoids to create new and interesting experiences. Ascend’s new Tunnel Vision label is entirely focused on the compounds. I recently spotted the label’s THCVa-heavy Balanced Focused Joyride Preroll Pack on the menu at Ascend Horizon Drive, so I picked up a sample to review.

Balanced Focus is a blended preroll of unknown genetic origin. This batch tested at 7.49% THCa, 11.678% THCVa, and 19.38% total cannabinoids.

This two pack of 0.5-gram prerolls came in a standard tube. The two cones were well packed with deep forest green flower. Some light finger work before lighting made for a smoother burning experience without any canoeing or running.

The scent from the tube was a rich blend of roasty peanut butter and black pepper that leaned hard into the savory side of the spectrum. The joint burned smooth and even long drags produced a well-rounded smoke. The flavor carried the same savory pepper from the aroma alongside notes of freshly harvested pumpkin and an undeniable grassy tone that dominated the exhale.

Balanced Joyride delivered a clearheaded and energetic experience that definitely stood apart from the standard joint. The boost of clarity and focus I found in the fifteen minutes after my joint rivaled that provided by a cup of coffee. The experience was highly cerebral and outside of some light tingles moving throughout my body, the physical aspect was very light.
