Review: Black Inferno by nuEra
This week, on a recommendation, I stopped into nuEra Champaign and picked up to review one of nuEra’s new strain drops, Black Inferno.
Black Inferno is an indica-leaning cross of Dante’s Inferno and Devil’s Driver, bred by Clearwater and Tiki Madman. This batch tested at 27.775% THCA, 0.344% THC, 0.541% CBGa, and 28.66% total cannabinoids. The leading terpenes included limonene, caryophyllene, myrcene, and humulene.
The eighth game as one huge cola, a few medium-sized buds, and a few tiny buds to round out the weight. The dense buds were colorful with dark green and purple leaves with some spots black that contrasted the rich creamy trichome coverage for a strong bag appeal.
The aroma delivered a depth of earth, sweet tea, spices, musty cheese, mixed fruit, vanilla, sour kush, and gas. The flavor mixed back and forth between sweet fruit and sour kush. The flavor on the inhale led with sweet fruit, creamy tea, vanilla, wet earth, and a funky kush. The exhale, especially on the back end, delivered a kushy-sour grape and funky fuel that coated the palate.
The quick onset started with a strong but smooth clearheaded high that relieved mental stress and anxiety. The clearheaded high lasted for the front end of the buzz and was functionable for music, movies, games, and casual conversation. Late in the buzz, and with higher doses, the mental clarity waned but was not tiresome. The body buzz crept in late with waves of tension and muscle relaxation that stacked on itself with each dose, especially in the extremities. The overall buzz had a mellow chill, an unwinding, to it without couchlock or sedation, which served me best for late evening and night use when I wanted to mentally and physically relax but stay up for a few more hours. Each smoke session also ended with a boosted appetite.
