Review: Blood Diamond Runtz by Korner Boys
One aspect I love about the new craft labels coming online is the fresh genetics most of the labels are bringing to the state. Korner Boys, from Atomic Acres, entire lineup is filled with new-to-me strains to review, including Blood Diamond Runtz.
Blood Diamond Runtz is an indica-leaning hybrid cross of Red Runtz and Blood Diamond OG. Chunky, large colas reached out in multiple directions with tight points. Turf-green base colors lurked beneath, varying shades from lilac to royal purple with short, thin rust-colored hairs tucked into the surface. The buds were very dense with almost no give when squeezed. Despite the density, the flower ground to a light fluff with ease and left a hash style greasiness on my fingers.

The aroma was hugely varied with several changing layers. A savory mix of cooking fat, motor oil, roasted nuts, coconut, basil, and oregano led much sweeter undertones of candied lavender, artificial cherry, tangerine flesh, lime peel, and fresh blueberries. On the palate, the tables were turned as the sweeter notes of tangerine and berries led the profile, while the motor oil and rich roasted nut flavors provided the bulk of the flavor and clung to the palate for several minutes after smoking.
A hazy, unfocused headspace built in the fifteen minutes following a bowl. My motivation was sapped by a wave of full-body pressure that relaxed my muscles and left me tired. Eventually, an optimistic and positive mood followed the initial haze, but the physical heaviness persisted for more than an hour. Overall, Blood Diamond Runtz delivered a dense, unique flavor with a classic, relaxing indica buzz.
