Grow Journal 63: Icy Grape by Copa Genetics (Part 2)
Part 1 of this journal entry ended with me drying my Icy Grape F2 (bred by Copa Genetics) inside my Cool Cure before trimming and placing the buds inside Grove Bags. Three weeks later, I opened the Grove Bags, and…wow! I’m just going to jump to the spoiler alert. This phenotype of Icy Grape had the stickiest and most dynamic flavor profile of any strain I’ve grown.
The dense buds delivered such a dynamic aroma and flavor profile that I’ve had more difficulty describing it than any other strain I’ve grown or reviewed. The aroma provided a blend of black licorice, fennel, and anise that mixed with a sweet hash, burnt wood, spicy grape, earthy coffee, grassy berries, and cough syrup. The flavor favored a constant and heavy creamy-berry candy that blended with a mix of sweet hash, grape bubblegum, ripe berries, licorice, citrus spice, and pine perfume. The back end of the exhale hit with the creamy sweet-berry funk that coated the tongue and lingered and lingered, begging for one more taste.
The effects landed in the hybrid zone, until late in the buzz. The head high started off clearheaded and attentive but then quickly became more relaxed and carefree with a slight pressure in the crown of the head and eyes. The overall body buzz started with a sinking feeling but late in the buzz turned into a heavy-blanket feeling. I consider the effect of this strain to be what I call an “enhancer.” When I’m in a good mood and want to chill, this strain enhanced that. When I was tired late at night before sleeping, this strain enhanced that.
Even though Icy Grape’s profile did not fall into my usually preferred flavors, I’ve been going back to Icy Grape over and over for the taste. I can’t get enough. It’s the most dynamic flavor profile I’ve grown and one of the top flavors I’ve smoke. Stay tuned for News Joint Grow Journal and batch of lemons strains.
