Review: Candied Lemons by matter.
I jokingly and crudely admit when it comes to terpene profiles, I’m a “lemon whore.” In general, lemon-flavored strains tend to be sativa that deliver my preference for clearheaded cerebral buzzes with energy and focus. Recently, I’ve noticed more lemon-flavored hybrid and indica strains, including a newly released strain from PharmaCann’s matter. brand, Candied Lemons.
Candied Lemons, picked up from Verilife Ottawa, is an indica cross of Wedding Pie and Larry OG F8. This batch tested at 22.63% THCa and 0.66% THC. Primary terpenes included a heavy dose of terpinolene with percentages that equaled the next three terpenes: ocimene, limonene, beta-myrcene. The overall total terpenes reached 4.58%.
Flower from matter., which used to come in tins that ripped open like a Pringles can, now comes in childproof pouches. This eighth consisted one huge cola and three smaller buds.
The creamy trichome-covered buds were dense and sticky with the perfect amount of moisture. The aroma from the pouch was a punch of pungent sugary lemon backed by sour Pine-Sol and sweet diesel.
The flavor hit first with sugary lemon and sour pine with extra notes of pineapple, kush, and sweet gas. The backend of the inhale provided a sugary and cakey pine that switched to pine needles, gas, and earthy kush on the exhale. The aftertaste of sweet and sour lemon Pine-Sol lingered, enticing another flavorful hit.
Candied Lemons did not match the “traditional indica” effects, but I expected that with the amounts of terpinolene, ocimene, and limonene, which read more like the terpene profile for a sativa strain. Lemon flavored strains and their terpene profiles seem to lift up traditional indica effects. Candied Lemons effects followed that trend by delivering a sativa-leaning hybrid effect.
The potent head high bordered on cerebral and allowed for a focused and creative headspace that blended nicely with a relaxing functional effect. The body buzz was similar with a blend of muscle relaxation that eased pain, but my motor skills were functional during physical work and other activities. The body buzz was more velvet than heavy weights.
With more doses, Candied Lemons drifted more toward tradition indica effects but never trapped me in thoughtlock, couchlock, or sedated me to the point of wanting to sleep. The balancing effects allowed me to medicate with Candied Lemons for work late at night, during my second work session of each day, without an overwhelmingly amount of energy or a heavy knock-out crash.
