News Joint partners with Rimrock Analytical
A couple months ago, we were trying to figure out how to add to Illinois News Joints’ A Friend Indeed program. After writing an article about sexing my seedlings, I realized that a plant testing service would be perfect not only for our A Friend Indeed program but also for all medical patients growing cannabis in Illinois. So we partnered with Rimrock Analytical, a plant tissue analysis laboratory, and now, Illinois News Joint has the ability to offer free testing to veterans and those battling cancer, as well as Free Shipping for anyone who uses promo code ILNJ.
Taylor Robinson, Founder of Rimrock Analytical, created his plant tissue analysis service out of his combined passion for both molecular biology and horticulture. His goal is to provide value-added technical services to the cannabis and agricultural community.
“It started with a couple years of research and method development, mostly beta testing with friends grows, along with my own hobby grows, to ensure the tests were accurate and the resulting data robust,” Robinson said. “From there, we started branching out to serve the local community. We now are able to serve a wide audience ranging from home grower hobbyists and medical growers all the way to MSOs.”
Rimrock Analytical’s services are specifically designed to provide cultivators with actionable data they can use to enhance their grows. For example, with limitations on the number of plants that can be grown at a given time, having reliable data on how best to manage crops is of great importance and can have a major impact on the overall productivity of a grow space. Rimrock Analytical provided analytical microbial enumeration testing services in molecular (PCR-based) testing, plant genetic testing services, plant tissue testing services, and customized microbial and chemistry-based projects and has a reliable plant tissue analysis lab serving the controlled environment agriculture and water management industries.
Robinson’s goal is to provide an exceptional customer experience, while making cutting edge analytical services widely available to all growers, that may have been only available to major institutions only a few years previously. This includes helping growers determine which analyses will provide the most value for their specific needs and then discussing the results and technical details to ensure clients get the most out of their data.
“We continuously work to stay current on leading edge analytical capabilities as they emerge,” said Robinson. Examples include next generation sequencing and microbial population genetics, viroid analysis, and the latest in gender identification, including multiple loci-targeted qPCR assays.
“We distinguish ourselves with best in class customer support and service,
said Robinson. “This means providing accurate data with a rapid turnaround time, being responsive to customer inquires and standing behind our work. We will make it right should we ever fall short of our customer’s expectations. Our number one goal is to make long lasting, highly satisfied client relationships. We see ourselves as part of the community and ensure that we add to it in a positive way.”
