Review: Chem OG by matter
The most significant leap in cannabis assessment has undoubtedly been the advent and elevation of the terpene panel. While the correlation between terpenes and the effects of certain strains is still debated, there is no doubt that strains with higher terpene levels are more fragrant and flavorful. As someone who believes that the aroma is an essential component of a great cannabis experience, I was intrigued to see matter offering terpene-rich strains such as this Chem OG, which I picked up at Verilife Ottawa.
Chem OG is a sativa-leaning hybrid cross of Chemdawg and OG Kush. This batch of flower tested at 0.77% Delta-9-THC and 22.14% THCa. Terpenes were 3.27% of the total weight with limonene, β-caryophyllene, β-myrcene, α-pinene, and α-humulene being the heaviest.

The flowers inside the jar came in a variety of “popcorn” sizes with the majority being slightly larger than actual pieces of popcorn. Fire orange hairs stood out against the turf green flower background, while the light trichome frost provided some additional brightness with its milky coloring.
The aroma was complex and unique, with sharp chemical notes layered with hot diesel, salty ocean, scallions, and dry hops. The finish had a distinctly metallic quality, reminiscent of freshly cleaned stainless steel. On the palate, these flavors combined to create a fresh, vegetal taste that lingered long after the smoke had dissipated
Chem OG produced a tingling euphoric buzz that spread from my torso. Mentally, I was clear and open, with nothing more than a slight lift in my mood compared to my sober state. With higher doses, I experienced a heavier body load that relieved some painful joint pressure, but my mind remained remarkably clear.
Even with the aforementioned euphoric sensations, Chem OG was not an energetic strain. The unique flavor and easygoing-anytime effects gave Chem OG a character all its own. For more Illinois News Joint reviews, visit here.
