News Joint Grow Journal 39: O.M.G.
For the second entry in our News Joint Grow Journal about my four Work Sativa strains, I give the final update on O.M.G. by Deep Space Creations. O.M.G. is a cross of Sunny D and Chem de la Chem.
The final dried and cured flower tested (sponsored by Grow5 Champaign) at 19% THC and just less than 2% CBD. Out of the four strains (Hella Jelly from Humboldt Seed Company, Lemon Tree from NWG Genetics, and Anti-Lemonade by Anti-Apparel/Curtis Crosses), the O.M.G. had the lowest THC numbers, but I thought the head high hit harder than the other strains that tested at 23% THC.
Throughout all stages of the grow, I used Cultured Biologix nutrients and SLF-100 from Blooms Brothers Hydro, along with Fish Shit. I flowered O.M.G. under a BlackBird light sponsored by HLG. Overall, I had no problem with the plant except for when I accidentally overfed during the veg, but she bounced back before I started to flower. Before I switched light cycles, I performed Kyle Kushman’s supercropping and “chiropractic” techniques, cracking the stem and branches from the bottom to the top by twisting them in opposite directions.
The buds were bright green with an orange tint and gave off that classic chem smell throughout flowering. The plant produced about 2.5 ounces in my 4×4 tent. The cure took almost five weeks before developing those Chem de la Chem back notes of sweet and citrus. I was hoping for more orange flavors, especially on the inhale, but overall, the Chem de la Chem flavors, which I also enjoy, stood out with a little heavier citrus flavors on the back end of the exhale. In instances such as these, I wish Illinois had a higher plant count, so I could pheno hunt several plants to find one with a heavier orange flavor.
Out of the four strains, O.M.G. was the one I kept going back to for work. I smoked almost the entire 2.5 ounces in about six weeks. The head high was strong, cerebral, motivating, and clearheaded with focus. The relaxing body buzz also took away the pains from sitting at my desk all day. All criteria I’m looking for in a Work Sativa.
I am looking forward to popping a few more of these seeds in hopes of finding that heavy orange-flavored pheno, and even if I don’t find it, I know I’ll still enjoy the Chem de la Chem flavor and buzz.
