Last year Bedford Grow launched three Gems flavors, including Rum Runner, Cranberry Mandarin, and Lavender Honey. Later in the year, Bedford Grow’s Strawberry Lemonade Gems won the High Times People’s Choice 2021 Cannabis Cup’s top prize for best edibles (gummies). A few months ago, Bedford Grow launched a new flavor: Citrus Twist Gems.

I enjoyed all the Bedford Grow Gem flavors and thought I’d try the Citrus Twist as well, so I picked up a jar from Springfield Maribis a few weeks ago. As before, the glass container of Gems included five gummies. Each gummy, which was larger than other tradition gummies, contained 20mg of THC.

The ingredients (sugar, corn syrup, water, natural flavoring, gelatin, citric acid, cannabis oil, cornstarch, and potassium sorbate) delivered the expected texture of a chewable gelatin-based gummy.

Once opened, the gems in the glass jar carried a pungent orange-lemon citrus aroma with notes of sweetness. The flavor delivered a strong sweet nectarine taste with hints of citrusy lemonade.

As with almost all the Gems I’ve review, I had to wait for a longer onset for the effects to kick in than I normally do. I find little if any difference between edibles labeled sativa, hybrid, and indica. However, Bedford Grow edibles almost always energized me for more than half of the buzz and give me more of a cerebral high than other gummies. These Gems were no different.

Throughout the first half the buzz, even at higher doses, I was able to function while completing mental and physical activities. The head high reached thoughtblock and thought wandering at times but not at length.

Though Bedford Grow Gems help me sleep at night, I usually took them to help with muscle cramps and aches while awake. Because of the energetic effects on me, if I dosed the Gems for sleep, I ate them several hours before wanting to fall asleep.

The body buzz had a relaxation to it but not one that made me to stay locked on the couch. On the contrary, the first couple hours of the buzz, I was usually up doing something. It was not until late in the buzz that the energy waned and tiredness crept in.

The head and body buzz eventually was effective for late-night relaxation, television binging, and music listening. I slept well each night after medicating with the Citrus Twist Gems.
