Review: Colombian Haze Diamonds and Sauce by nuEra
It’s easy to understand why cultivators select newer genetics often bred for higher yields and THC percentages. Luckily, some cultivators are ignoring these factors and curating older cultivars to create unique flavors and experiences. NuEra has recently taken up this mantle by carrying on the Colombian Haze cultivar. I recently stopped at nuEra Champaign and picked up this Colombian Haze diamonds and sauce to review.
Colombian Haze is a sativa-leaning hybrid cross of Colombian Gold and Thai Haze. This batch of concentrate tested at 1.3% THC, 94.78% THCa, and 96.08% total cannabinoids. Terpenes were 1.97% of the total weight with β-myrcene, eucalyptol, limonene, and α-pinene being the most prevalent.
This gram came as a group of crystal clear THC diamonds, one of them notably large, swimming in a free flowing amber-colored oil. While the large diamonds were visually appealing, they had to be broken down when it came time to dose, a skill with an easy learning curve.
The aroma inside the jar was a pleasantly unique blend of cinnamon, fresh basil, carrots, cut wildflowers, dill, and aged blue cheese. The complexity lead to further discoveries with every inhale. The palate carried the bright and fresh natural flavors of sweet carrots, wildflowers, and dill at the top end with a rich roasted cinnamon tone providing the finish. The unique flavor in and of itself is a selling point with nuEra, providing an old-school flavor profile that the Illinois market has left behind.
Colombian Haze set in immediately creating a headband pressure that sat at my crown. The “Haze” came in at the front end of the experience as a spacey cerebral effect took hold resulting in me staring at my hands sitting on the keyboard for a while. It was the back end of the experience that was marked by a clarity of thought and awareness that is characteristic to old school Haze genetics.
Overall, the unique flavor profile and motivating clarity of thought made this a personal favorite, and I look forward to trying more of this strain. For more Illinois News Joint reviews, visit here.
