Review: Cookie Dos by Revolution
By Theo
I have to admit up front that in the past I haven’t been as much of a fan of Revolution products as many other Illinois cannabis enthusiasts. One strain I did, however, find at least potentially remarkable was the sativa-leaning phenotype of Dosido. So, when I saw Rev had crossed it with the very popular Cookies and Cream, I became intrigued. And when the 7-gram popcorn went on sale at Consume Marion, I was invested.
The jar appeal was immediately impressive. Physically reminiscent of its Dosido parentage, this was the roundest, most uniform popcorn I had seen in Illinois. I got 7.1 grams, two .4 gram buds, and a couple of dozen that were all at or near .2 grams.
With hues of blue showing through its lime green coloration, and soft burnt orange pistils, I found this flower uniquely attractive, especially for popcorn, which is more often than not scruffy and hastily trimmed. This did look like a machine trim, but a well performed one.
As hard as I’d been on Revolution in my personal choices, the overall qualities of these flowers were clearly superior to many brands on the market. The fragrance was also both impressive and unusual. Sweet cream, mint, and nuttiness similar to pistachios were detected, along with a strong peppery effervescence.
Some of the less dense lowers were moderately harsh when combusted. The fuller, denser ones that comprised most of the quarter were much smoother. This variation in quality is common with popcorn.
The effects of the Cookie Dos were euphoric and enjoyable as well. At 26.47% THCa and .46% THC, I felt this medicine was euphoric and dreamy, and slightly indica leaning. It was similar to MAC. The dominant included beta-caryophyllene, limonene, linalool, alpha-humulene, and alpha terpinolene. It feels like the intention here was to create a sweet, limonene dominant cultivar like MAC, but it came out slightly peppery, which is always a risk when working with OG crosses like Dosido.
This was my first encounter with Revolution’s 7-gram popcorn, and I came away impressed. I enjoyed Cookie Dos as a daytime indica, appropriate for any time of day between mid-morning and late afternoon.
I found its sweet, pistachio ice cream flavor profile to be quite enjoyable, and an excellent contrast to all the chem and diesel varietals I’ve been smoking in recent weeks. I’d buy it again with no hesitation. For more Illinois News Joint reviews, click here.
