Review: Escape Terp Sugar by Dabstract
I first sampled Dabstract back in May when the label released a line of vape carts. I’ve been awaiting the full concentrate follow-up since. This month, the dabs from Dabstract hit dispensaries, so I stopped into Consume Marion and picked up a variety to review, starting with Escape Terp Sugar.
Escape is a sativa-leaning hybrid cross of Amnesia Sour Diesel and Amnesia Sour Diesel F2. This Terp sugar tested at 2.75% THC, 86.1% THCa, and 91.3% total cannabinoids. Terpenes were 5.35% of the total weight with terpinolene, trans-ocimene, and myrcene being the heaviest.
Crystal-clear, kosher-salt-sized chunks of THC floated inside a transparent sunflower-yellow free-flowing oil. The low viscosity made dosing a bit of a balancing act as the oil heavy THC chunks flowed off the end of my tool with the oil.
The burnt-orange aroma of terpinolene hit the nose with a tanginess on the top but a supporting blend of fresh celery, hot diesel, chemical-floor cleaner, pine sap, and hot stainless steel created a sharp but surprisingly natural overall profile. The flavor was much sweeter than the tangy aroma indicated with notes of candied lemon and hints of lilac holding the front before the hot diesel and pine came in at the finish. The finish was clean, and the palate was completely cleared with the exhale.
The effect was fast acting, boosting my energy, focus, and mood almost instantly. A clear and spacious headspace allowed me to focus on work without self-inflicted distraction for more than an hour and a half. Physically, a two-sided profile unfolded. Initially a wave of muscle relaxation left me with a floating sensation, but this turned at the peak to a heavier pulling pressure at my crown and core after the peak. A notably positive shift in mood characterized the entire experience, outlasting all the other effects.
