Review: Florida Cake by Rythm
Almost two years ago, when I first tried the strain Triangle Kush to see what all the chatter was about, I grew to love the effects but was not as impressed with the heavy kush and gassy funk flavors as others had been. When I noticed on the RISE Effingham menu the strain Florida Cake by Rythm, I picked up a sample to review to see what how the “double” offspring cross of Triangle Kush compared.
Florida Cake is a hybrid cross of Triangle Kush and Triangle Mints (Triangle Kush and Animal Mints). This batch tested at 24.60% THCa, 1.12% THC, and 25.72% total cannabinoids. The primary terpenes included limonene, β-caryophyllene, β-pinene, α-pinene, and linalool.

This eighth came as several dense medium-sized buds that were light green with a little dark green mixed with the bright orange pistils. The aroma opened with sweet cake and hops with back notes of fruit, herbal citrus, mint, and spice.
Compared to Triangle Kush’s heavy kush and gassy funk flavors, Florida Cake delivered a completely different profile and catered more toward the cream and sweet cake flavor chasers. The Florida Cake offered a heavy sweet creamy cake flavor, especially on the front end of the inhale. The back of the inhale added earthy mint, floral citrus, herbal spices, and a kushy funk.
The exhale was basically the inverse, leading with herbal spices, earthy mint, and citrus, and then ending with the funky kush and heavy sweet cream. The creamy sweet cake aftertaste coated the tongue and lingered well after each hit.
Florida Cake’s almost immediate effects hit with a punch to the head. Bong hits and large rips caused a pounding in the upper crown for a few seconds. The high stayed heavy in the upper head and eyes, and my thoughts wandered and became forgetful.
Besides the lack of mental focus, Florida Cake effects were similar to Triangle Kush with hybrid-calming energy, including its non-sedative heavy but content body buzz. The body buzz onset also came on quickly and built upon itself as the buzz continued. The body buzz had that weighted effect but did not hamper moving around. Late in the buzz, the effect eventually became a little more sedative.
Florida Cake worked well for nights in which I wanted to zone out or watch uncomplicated videos and television series and for when I wanted a creamy sweet flavor profile. Florida Cake also provided an appetite booster late in the buzz. For more Illinois News Joint reviews, visit here.
