Review: Fudge Brownie Mix by West Town Bakery
With more new craft operators coming online, Illinois dispensary menus are slowly but surely offering more new and innovating cannabis-infused products. Idyll has recently collaborated with Cannabis Infused from West Town Bakery to release a line of infused baking mixes that caught my attention. Three baking mixes are available for pick up only at Okay Cannabis dispensaries (for now), including Fudge Brownie, Cannfetti Cake, and The Devil’s Food Cake. This first review is for the Fudge Brownie mix.
West Town Bakery infused Fudge Brownie Mix was a boxed brownie mix infused with 50mg of THC. There were 12 servings in the kit with each serving containing 4.1mg of THC. The ingredients were dark chocolate chips, dark brown sugar, eggs, unsalted butter, all purpose flour, milk chocolate chips, and salt.

Inside the box were a bag of chocolate pieces, a bag of brownie mix, and a baking tray. The mix required an additional stick of unsalted butter and four eggs. If you have ever made brownies from a box kit, the process here will be familiar. First, bag one of high quality chocolate pieces was melted with butter in the microwave. Once the chocolate had liquefied, the eggs were added, followed by the brownie mix. I scooped the blend into the included baking pan, gleefully licked the spoon, and placed the pan into the oven for 55 minutes at 350 degrees.
Dense, rich, and fudgy, these brownies bested ANY boxed brownie mix I’ve ever tried. The chocolate blended into the base and created a moist center cake, while the corners still carried that classic brownie crispness. The decadence was a dose-limiting factor as I could only eat one.
The light dose took a while to set in but even at 4 mg, I detected a small headspace change that lightened my anxiety levels. Physically, an overall heaviness eventually set in, a one-two punch of low dose THC and sugar crash. Overall, these brownies were a delicious treat, and the light dosing meant these would make a fun addition to even the tamest of Friendsgivings and small get-togethers. I’m excited to see how this line expands and happy to see new approaches coming to our edible market.
