Review: Funky Lo Mein by Revolution
I’m a sucker for a great strain name. I love savory flavors, so Revolution’s Funky Lo Mein caught my eye instantly. I recently stopped at Revolution Normal and picked up an eighth to review.
Funky Lo Mein is a hybrid cross of Raspberry Shortcake and (Bermuda Triangle OG X (Louis XIII X Grim Bastard OG). This batch of flower tested at 0.27% THC, 15.76% THCa, and 16.36% total cannabinoids. The indicated terpenes were β-caryophyllene, limonene, linalool, β-Myrcene, and α-humulene.

Three equally sized flowers had chunky rounded bodies but terminated at a sharp point at the top. Bright turf-green at the base, the buds were almost completely covered by a dense layer of thick fire-orange hairs. A layer of solidly milky trichomes reached out from beneath hairs, glittering in direct light ,while remnants of lime-green sugar leaf added even more visual contrast. Dense in the hand and grinder, the flowers broke down to fine grind.
Sweet raspberry, candied strawberries, and tangerine notes led a more varied mélange of cocoa powder, salty ocean brine, roasted peanuts, and hints of aged cheddar. The flavor flipped the aroma on its head, bringing the savory notes to the front and at points tasting similar to lo mein noodles. Notes of hot peanut oil, cooking meat, ocean brine, and umami rich soy sauce, led to more rounded tones of pine and cut cedar. The smoke was thick and impactful, coating my tongue with the rich umami flavor.
Funky Lo Mein hit far above its weight class, acting as a reminder that mid-teen cannabinoid percentages are still worth time and attention. A cool and collected state cleared my mind of racing thoughts, allowing me to organize myself and focus. This strong sense of clarity pulled me into the moment, boosting my productivity without pushing my energy levels higher. A warming sense of relaxation spread outward from my core, helping to maintain the overall feeling of wellbeing. Funky Lo Mein was fascinating thanks to the sweet-then-savory aroma and taste combination, while delivering an above-its-weight-class effect.
