Review: Gorilla Cookies by Aerīz
I’m old enough to remember when many Illinois cultivators sold their flower in plastic containers. Oh, wait, that was, like, less than two years ago. Despite my warped frame of reference of time for these last couple of years, I have been interested in the evolution of packing since legalization. Recently, I stopped by nuEra Urbana and picked up an eighth of Gorilla Cookies by Aerīz, and the first thing I noticed was that Aerīz had new packaging for its flower.
Gorilla Cookies is a hybrid cross (bred by Elev8 Seeds) of Gorilla Glue #4 and Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies. This eighth tested at 0.23% THC and 21.87% THCa. The primary terpenes included β-caryophyllene, limonene, β-myrcene, and α-humulene.

The glass container that contained the eighth of Gorilla Cookies had no labeling to obscure my view at the actually flower. The glass container came in a new white box with the strain’s information on its back.
The dense buds were creamy white with thick trichome coverage and easy to breakdown. Underneath the creamy white, the colorful buds peacocked many shades of greens, with purple mixed in, and rusty orange pistils.

Once opened, the glass container released an aroma filled with earthy pine, minty citrus, cloves, and woody spice. The similar flavor hit more with the citrus, pine, mint, clove, kush, and earthiness but also added a touch of sweetness and diesel on the inhale. The exhale kept the diesel with added earthy pine, clove, and nutty spice flavors.
The effects were what I expected from the lineage. The head high was uplifting and euphoric with enough clear-headed enough to function through out the afternoon and evening. The body buzz, with the GG#4 and GSC lineages, hit almost as quick as the head high. My thoughts and muscles were relaxed, and I especially felt the relief in my upper body and arms.

After each session, Gorilla Cookies boosted my appetite and, on one occasion, gave me the rare munchies, which I never get. After several sessions and much later in the buzz, the indica side of the strain comes through with some mental and physical sedation.
For those patients looking for that classic hybrid-style “cookie” effects with a strong body buzz, Gorilla Cookies should satisfy those needs. For more Illinois News Joint reviews, click here.
