Review: Guava Vape by Dank Vapes
New vape brands seem to hit the shelves every time I stop in at a dispensary. Longtime California-based label Dank Vapes recently joined the Illinois market. I stopped by Ash & Ivy Dispensary in Benton and picked up a Guava Vape to review.
The Dank Vapes Guava Vape came as a 1-gram distillate-based vape cart infused with botanically derived terpenes. This vape tested at 3.071% CBD and 76.535% Delta 9 THC. The hardware was a simple 1-gram 510-threaded cylinder cart with a plastic tank, black plastic mouthpiece, stainless steel core, and Dank Vape branding at the base. The oil inside was a deeply colored golden honey amber with a viscosity to match, moving slowly but steadily at room temperature and surprisingly quickly once heated.

Bright and fruity on the top, the flavor opened with a sweet blend of pear, wild strawberry, and clementine vaguely reminiscent of Juicy Fruit gum. Underneath this fruity top note, the flavor provided a complex earthy and herbal mix of freshly turned dirt, forest floor, fresh rain, wet slate, and roasted basil and thyme. While the earthy tones carried some bitterness, it disappeared from the palate quickly.
The Guava Vape induced a hazy headspace that wiped awa both my anxiety and focus, leaving me introspective but with a noticeable boost in energy. A light euphoric buzz started to take over my muscles, wiping out some pain points on the way. The one-two punch of mental energy and tingling euphoria was slightly racy at the peak, but it quickly subsided. Overall, the effects were sharp but short-lived, peaking within 25 minutes and returning me to baseline within 45 minutes.
