Review: Infused Chocolate Syrup and Hazelnut Syrup by The Culinary Cannabis Co.
I’ve often said the next frontier for edibles is integration into our day-to-day diet. The Culinary Cannabis Company is taking that bet with a portfolio filled with infused-base ingredients, sauces, and syrups. I recently picked up from The Dispensary Champaign two packs of The Daily Buzz Chocolate and Hazelnut infused coffee syrups to review.
Culinary Canna Company Daily Buzz Infused Chocolate and Hazelnut Syrups each came as 4-packs of syrup pouches with 12.5mg of THC per pouch and a total of 50mg of THC package.
Each clear plastic, 1-ounce package was slightly larger than a “standard” condiment pack. The Chocolate syrup was a deep cocoa brown with a dense, slow-moving viscosity that was richer than a standard Hershey’s style syrup. The Hazelnut came as a translucent sugar syrup with a slight burnt-orange hue and a free-flowing liquid viscosity. The less dense hazelnut quickly dissolved into a cup of coffee, while the heavier chocolate required some stirring.

The Chocolate syrup was sweet at the top but with a warming richness of earthy cocoa adding some depth. Hazelnut shared the sugary opening of the chocolate, but the backend here was very strong, providing a palate coating blanket of nutty and roasted hazelnut. Both flavors were tuned for mixing into coffee. The sugary top notes and rich-flavor bases softened into background notes once blended into a cup. Notably, no cannabis flavor appeared at any point in either flavor.
The fast-acting infusion started to shift my perception within 15 minutes, providing a relaxed and spacious headspace that allowed for a free-flowing train of thought. More “head” than “body,” the physical aspect was limited to a few waves of euphoric tingles coming and going from my core at the peak. The calm and anxiety-free mood remained with me for just over an hour before returning to my baseline.
