Review: Jordanz by Grassroots
Gary Payton is one of the most popular hybrids thanks to its accessible and easy-going experiential nature. Curaleaf label Grassroots is tapping into this popularity with a descendant strain that leans into the same basketball-focused branding, Jordanz. I recently stopped at Curaleaf Skokie and picked up an eighth to review.
Jordanz is a hybrid cross of Gary Payton and Runtz. This batch of flower tested at 0.06% CBDa, 0.544% THC, 22.3% THCa, and 24.4% total cannabinoids.

Splashes of deep-forest green and royal purple gave five closely trimmed, just-larger-than-popcorn nugs, a dark-base tone while a dusting of solidly milky trichomes and thick curled in fire orange hairs added some brightness to the visual profile. Sticky to the touch, the surface left a tacky, clinging resin sensation on my fingers after a pinch. The buds were extremely dense and took some real effort to push through my grinder.
The top of the aroma was very sweet with a blend of artificial lemon, cherry, and grape candy notes, followed by a richer blend of fresh pine, cut cedar, new rubber, bell pepper, and wet moss. On the palate, the warmer flavors of fresh pine and cedar came to the front, while the sweeter candy tones acted as finishing tones, rounding out the savory wood notes. Lighter on the tongue than on the nose, Jordanz left a clean palate post exhale.
Jordanz worked quickly, inducing a levelheaded calm that stabilized my mood and energy level within 10 minutes. Waves of light tingles started to pulse outward from my spine and remained euphoric for the duration of the high. The stable headspace helped to keep me focused and working even if my energy level never lifted. The combination of euphoric tingles and clearheaded calm made Jordanz a true “anytime” strain.
