Review: L.A. Affie by Grassroots
Those who know me know I prefer high-energy sativa with a clearheaded high for day use, but I also enjoy a strong knock-me-out indica at night. Lately, I have been trying and preferring pure indica strains that surprisingly have been loaded with flavor. L.A. Affie by Grassroots was one of them.
L.A. Affie, picked up from Curaleaf Mokena, is a pure indica with limonene, beta caryophyllene, and linalool leading its terpene profile. This eighth tested at 0.50% THC, 20.02% THCa, and 20.89% total cannabinoids.

The bright-green bulbous buds with furry orange pistils reminded more of a sativa in color than most indica sold today. The aroma hit first with an earthy and sweet pine mixed with notes of mint kush, herbs, floral, and spice.
The flavor delivered a somewhat different profile. The inahale led with sugary vanilla fruit on the front end with heavy notes of floral hash, citrus, and woody spice on the back end. The exhale was reversed with the sugar, vanilla, and a touch of berries on the back end, leaving a sweet aftertaste.

The effects were exactly what I was looking for in a nighttime indica. I often joke I am not far from taking a nap at any moment, so indica with sedative effects work well. And some, like L.A. Affie, eventually help me transition into sleep within an hour or two.
L.A. Affie began, though, with an energetic boost and one of those pure indica psychedelic head highs that made it difficult for my eyes for focus on a computer screen and words. Chilling in front of the television worked way better. My thoughts, especially with extra doses, were prone to wander or lockup or just “be” in a semi-meditative state.

The beginning of the buzz also hit with euphoria and a mood booster, and though the blissful state of mind continued, a heavy sedation locked in the mind and body. The body buzz provided that heavy blanket-over-the-entire-body feeling, helping with my inflammation, cramping, and soreness.
Turning the corner into the second half of the buzz, the head high and body buzz headed straight for sedation, relaxation, and eventually sleep. L.A. Affie also boosted my appetite, but I was usually too tired to eat because I medicated with L.A. Affie late at night only.

Overall, L.A. Affie fit my nighttime medication regiment for when I was still mentally awake from working late but wanting to fall asleep as fast as possible. And for flavor chasers, especially for a pure indica, L.A. Affie should be on a patient’s list to try. For more Illinois News Joint reviews, click here.
