Review: Manzano by Revolution
I’m obsessed with strain names and have asked several breeders about their process for naming strains, so when I notice new and interesting names, my first instinct is to ask, “Does the name fit the strain?”. In the case of Manzano, one of Revolutions Cannabis’ many new drops, the name was a perfect match.
The name Manzano, a type of banana with an apple-like flavor, matched well with the strain’s lineage and flavor. Manzano is a sativa-dominant cross of Apples & Bananas and Apples & Bananas, bred by Compound Genetics (in collaboration with Cookies). This eighth, picked up at Enlightened Mount Prospect, tested at 0.75% THC, 26.02%, THCa, and 27.74% total cannabinoids. The primary terpenes included β-Myrcene, ocimene, β-caryophyllene, α-pinene, and linalool.

The thumb-sized foxtailed buds with perfect density were light green with dark green and purple mixed in with the light-orange pistils. A heavy coat of trichomes gave the buds a cream-color hue. The aroma hit with a sweet cream and citrus mixed with notes of earthy hops and sugary fruit.
The flavor matched the strain name, and though I recognize the “apple” and “banana” flavors, I just don’t usually think that profile taste like real apples and bananas. In any case, the complex flavor profile of Manzano went beyond simple apple and banana, and for the first time, I agree with the description of a sweet apple flavor in a strain. The inhale delivered a smack of sweet candy, apple, and fruit with heavy notes of lemon citrus and overripe bananas and lighter notes of vanilla cream, mixed fruit, and a unique gassy funk.
The exhale carried the same base complex-flavor profile with a heavier sweet fruit, cream, and gassy funk on the backend. Each inhale and exhale, though, delivered even more complex notes that added to the already flavorful profile. Manzano was one of those strains that delivered new subtle hints of flavors with almost every hit. Hints of other flavors included caramel, sour mango, sugary diesel, sweet cream corn, peppered cherries, cantaloupe, pear, peach, strawberry, skunk, rose, lavender, lemongrass, and more.
Manzano provided the effects I have been looking for in a Revolution strain for quite some time now. Though I enjoy sativa strains from Revolution, I’ve never found a Work Sativa that checked all the boxes until this review. Until now, Fruit Stand had been a close go-to.

Manzano, however, now has become my favorite Revolution strain for work. The head high provided a strong but clearheaded cerebral high that delivered energy without jitteriness. The heavy body buzz relaxed my muscle cramps and pains and allowed me to sit in a chair for long periods of time while working. For more Illinois News Joint reviews, visit here.
