Review: Mexican Flan Live Resin by Cookies
More than a year ago, I ran across the strain Mexican Flan in Missouri and was instantly intrigued by the cross of two of my favorite cultivars, Animal Mints and Ice Cream Cake. Cookies has finally released the full product line on the Illinois market. I came across the strain as a live resin jelly at Cookies Peoria, so I picked up a gram to review.
Mexican Flan is a hybrid cross of Animal Mints and Ice Cream Cake originally, bred by Seed Junky. This batch of live resin tested at 0.26% CBDa, 4.27% THC, 74.84% THCa, and 84.16% total cannabinoids.
This golden amber honey-colored live-resin “jelly” carried a matrix of small diamonds floating in a terpene-heavy sauce. The sauce kept a smooth flow even in lower ambient temps, making it easy to dose out my desired ratio of diamonds to sauce.
Inside the jar a top-end blast of tangy diesel was sweetened by the presence of a sweet lemon and creamy dough combination that closely followed. Additional, fresh vegetal scents of cauliflower and wildflower fields appeared at the finish, adding depth to the sweet and tangy doughy diesel top end.
On the palate, the flavor dropped any notes of sweet dough, focusing entirely on the hot diesel at the front and the cauliflower and broccoli vegetable tone at the finish that added a freshness to the entire flavor. Overall, the flavor was light and cleared from the palate quickly post exhale. Mexican Flan induced a quiet and reflective headspace within minutes, followed by heavy physical waves of alternating pressure, lightness, and euphoric tingles. The physical presence was quite strong pulling down my eyelids, arms, and legs for the better part of an hour and continuing a carousel of rotating sensations.
My energy levels remained consistent, and my head remained clear throughout the experience. Despite the strong body buzz, I could fit a Mexican Flan dab into my schedule almost anywhere. For more Illinois News Joint reviews, visit here.
