Review: Orange 4:1 Sour Gummy Bites by matter.
By @medsforheads
Gummy edibles are one of the most ubiquitous products in any cannabis retailer’s supply, so it’s the details of the form factor that can set one apart from the rest. Shape, size, taste, texture, and ingredients all come into play in consumers’ decisions since there are so many nearly-identical options for THC dosing, though some gummies offer two or more cannabinoids in a specified ratio for broader-spectrum effects. Over the past weekend, I tried the Orange 4:1 (CBD:THC) Sour Gummy Bites from matter., sourced from Verilife River North, hoping to mellow out and relieve aches.
Right away, the ingredient list looked fairly promising. Both vegan and gluten-free, the gummies contained natural orange oil and not too many artificial ingredients overall. Each sugarcoated dome was dosed with 5mg THC and 20mg CBD, totaling up to 100mg and 400mg respectively in the entire bag.
One gummy was roughly the size of a nickel in circumference and firm enough to withstand a cut or two should someone want a smaller dosage increment. This texture, comparable to Dots candy, is what I personally look for in a gummy as opposed to a more resistant chew or a gelatinous squish.
Despite the pale yellow color continuously tricking my brain to expect lemon, the Orange 4:1 Sour Gummy Bites tasted pleasant, with the orange oil giving them an immersively warm, aromatic quality and a flavor that bordered on medicinal. A hint of citric sourness helped the palatability of a bite full of sugar, and soon I found I had eaten four or five pieces without thinking about it.
After about thirty minutes, I could feel my muscles begin to unclench and my visual field start to soften. Unlike most cannabis products, which I simply incorporate into my regular routine, I had a specific purpose in mind for these gummies: to mitigate the effects of three full days of Riot Fest, a music festival that had me standing in the hot sun and shuffling through dense crowds for hours on end.
The Orange 4:1 Sour Gummy Bites succeeded, quelling much of the pain that had been accumulating in my feet, calves, back and shoulders over the course of the festival and enabling me to go with the flow stress-free as group plans changed continuously.
I felt the additional CBD content provided a neuroprotectant effect that shielded me from the irritation that would ordinarily come as a consequence of three consecutively exhausting days of activity. So long and goodnight, indeed! For more Illinois News Joint reviews, click here.
