Review: Orange Afghani by Bedford Grow
When I was young, it was always a dream to judge a High Times Cannabis Cup. Take-home backpacks are a long way away from the cutting edge breeder showcases that the Amsterdam Cups of legend, but we are where we are. This selection from Bedford Grow picked up from Maribis Springfield, Orange Afghani is a competitor for the Indica Cup.
Bedford Grow’s Orange Afghani is an indica-leaning cross of Orange Ghost and Chem ‘91 and Afghani Landrace. This eighth tested at 19.68% THCa and 21.8% total cannabinoids. The primary terpenes were terpinolene, β-caryophyllene, and β myrcene. Interesting minor terpenes included ocimene, p-cymene, α-terpineol, and β-phellandrene.

A couple well sized Christmas tree trimmed flowers were well coated with a golden amber trichome frost that gave the buds an orange hue when viewed from a distance. The cure was well done with a sticky resinous satisfactory squish.
The aroma in the jar was overwhelmed on the top by the medicinal tang of the terpinolene. After a short saturation period, I detected fresh orange peel, tangy hops, undertones of hot gas, cinnamon, and a combination of pine and earth that carried me back to hiking the pine forests of the Great Smokys.

I kept returning to this jar simply to work my way through the aroma completely. In the pipe, the orange, cinnamon, and pine continued to blossom when smoked. The flavor was just as heavy as the aroma.
The effects were initially classically indica, relaxing my body and putting a grin on my face. Notably, I never felt tired, weighed down, or unable to focus as the time wore on. I was just at ease enough to have a great time, while never feeling detached from the experience.

The relaxation and anti-anxiety effects remained functional throughout, and I found this a perfect fit for an evening out or time with friends. The flavors here alone were worth visiting from my perspective, but consumers seeking a balanced and relaxing indica experience will be best served.
