Review: Ozone’s Cake Mints by Ascend Wellness Holdings
By Theo
Ozone’s Cake Mints, a genetic cross of Animal Mints and Kush Mints and known nationally as The Soap, has quickly become Ascend Wellness Holdings’ most popular flower. With a devoted base of repeat buyers, I’ve had patrons and budtenders alike tell me that this stuff is a mainstay in their rotations. I’d been excited to try it for some time. So, when I saw the 3.5-gram popcorn available at Consume Carbondale, I knew I had to grab some.
This Cake Mints 3.5-gram popcorn came as thirty tiny popcorn buds compressed into one golf-ball-sized clump. The smell burst open and filled the entire room in about a second.

The Cake Mints nose was an herbal, floral burst, with hops and saccharine mint. Every one of those flavors shined through when combusted as well, plus some gassy OG terps. The finish was uniquely minty, very clean and satisfying, and the effects began nearly immediately.
Though marketed as a sativa, I interpreted the effects as that of strong and well-balanced hybrid. I did get a strong cerebral jolt with each session, but it soon mellowed into a lucid, even high, with some much-needed muscular relaxation in the neck and shoulders, and a general state of reduced anxiety.
Cake Mints is an overall fantastic cultivar. Its anxiety free lucidity proved useful as a wake and bake option, and at 30.138% THCa, it was also strong enough to cut through my tolerance at the end of a long, smoke filled day.
I would like to see Ozone make some improvements to its packaging, but I could clearly see why so many folks are crazy about this cannabis, and I would definitely pick up Cake Mints again, price permitting
