Review: Pink Kush by Legends
I must admit that I have a bit of an obsession when it comes to the idea of “classics” cultivars that cemented their reputations long before any dispensaries existed. Everyone has heard tales of flower decades ago that may not have looked as good as what we have now but created effects that simply can’t be matched by cannabis grown today. Legends is a label in Illinois growing only these old school landmark cultivars. I first sampled Legends all the way back in July 2021 with their Blue Dream offering, and I was happy to see Legends offer another cultivar name I knew in the form of Pink Kush picked up from Mission South Chicago.
Pink Kush is an indica leaning cultivar of unknown origin but believed to be descended from OG Kush. This batch of flower tested at 0.3% THC, 0.52% CBGa, and 24.06% THCa. Total terpenes were at 1.87% with β-caryophyllene, β-myrcene, and α-humulene as the heaviest terpenes. Legends provides minor cannabinoid and terpene testing levels alongside THC and THCa, something I always appreciate.

This eighth of flower came as a handful of small popcorn style buds. The flowers were deep forest green with a golden hued amber trichome frost concentrated at the creases where sugar leaves had been. The trim was well executed and there wasn’t any trace of sugar leaf left. The bud had a light fluffiness after being ground and brightened in color considerably to a lime green tone.
Out of the jar the aroma was a melange of sweet fresh dough, black pepper, and freshly turned earth. Under this top note, I found cedar and musk. That sweet dough and musk came to the front when smoked creating a creamy funky cheese note on the inhale. The exhale highlighted the black pepper alongside a previously undetected pine note.
I say this in the best way possible. This Pink Kush got me stoned. I noticed the mind effects most profoundly where I found myself in a spaced out daze, stopping to stare at my hands (or contents of my refrigerator) for a bit longer than I’d like to admit.
The physical side of the effect profile was highly functional leaving me with a light tingling euphoria that lasted for the duration. Despite this light body profile, the heavy daze from Pink Kush lulled me to sleep consistently, and I found it to be a good nightcap.
Overall, Legends Pink Kush was a solid showing from an old school strain, and I’m looking forward to more. For more Illinois News Joint reviews, visit here.
