Review: Red Delicious Blunt by Northern Heights
On the road again, I found myself reaching for a Red Delicious blunt from Northern Heights that I’d picked up from Emerald Lounge and Dispensary to punctuate my weekend trip.
Red Delicious is a hybrid cross of the Apple Fritter and Red Pop. This 1-gram hemp wrapped blunt tested at 0.82% THC, 28.41% THCa, and 32.33% total cannabinoids. The top indicated terpenes were limonene, β-caryophyllene, and cis-ocimene.

Exactly four inches from end to end, this blunt came as a large cone wrapped in chestnut brown hemp paper with a reflective Futurola branded cigar band near the base. The mouthpiece was a crutch made from the same hemp wrap, while the other end was folded flat, revealing a lime green super-finely-ground bud when untucked.
The in-the-tube aroma was dominated by the Futurola hemp wrap, a woody blend of cedar, pine, and hints of sweet maple. Even dry pulls provided the same warm woody flavor. The flavor transformed as the blunt burned though as a blend of strawberry, licorice, black pepper, and sugary dough came to the top of the palate, while the notes of pine and cedar were reserved for the exhale. The thick smoke coated the palate, remaining detectable for several minutes post exhale.
Red Delicious was fast acting, inducing a wave of muscle relaxation and ease to my movements. Playful, energetic, and creative, the mental boost was more “sativa” than the physical sensations leaving me talkative and sociable. The muscle relaxation eventually became a heavier sensation of pressure, covering me from head to toe, that outlasted the mental boost by more than a half hour. Overall, the Red Delicious Blunt delivered a rich flavor and surprisingly strong physical buzz.
