While there will always be a place for big glass rigs and blowtorches, there’s no doubt that the future of cannabis consumption is mobile. Cartridges, wax pens, and oil vapes have all appeared as attempts to answer the call for easy on-the-go use. The Ooze Duplex combines all of these forms into one small and simple package.

The Duplex is small and sat comfortably into the palm of my hand with a solid density that felt more expensive than it was. From the outside there’s only one button, a large metallic piece that makes up an entire side of vape. This piece is held on magnetically and acts as a clever cover for the USB charging port and 4 LED power indicator lights. There’s a hole on the top where the various cartridges are magnetically loaded. I really like how simple this is. This is a vape I could recommend to anyone of any knowledge level.

The magic here lies in the versatility. The Duplex comes with multiple interchangeable tanks. A robust ceramic oil tank that works like a bigger version of the disposable vapes you see at dispensaries. The tank is simple to fill and didn’t clog even when I was vaping thicker oils. There’s also the twin quartz heating element wax tank that can handle straight dabs. I loved this tank’s easy top loading and size. You can fit a half a day’s worth of dosing in there. Consumers can also use the 510 threaded magnetic connector to vape disposable cartridges from the dispensary.

The Duplex powers on with 5 button clicks.There are 4 power settings (3.4V, 3.6V, 3.8V, and 4.0V) indicated by easy to follow colored (Blue, Green, Orange, and Red, respectively) lights on the front. You can cycle through these settings with 3 button clicks and you can trigger a 15 second “heatup” phase with 2 clicks. I got the most flavor and use out of all the tanks on the first two power settings, blue, and green. The 15-second “heatup” works well if you’ve loaded a heavy dose into the solid wax tank. Once you’ve dialed in your settings it really is just “press and go”.

Overall, I came away a big fan of the simplicity and versatility of the Ooze Duplex. The battery lasted well into the day after a morning charge and the interchangeable cartridges allowed me to change things up easily without changing devices. The lower price point is also easier to work with compared to some of the bigger devices on the market. Consumers looking for an easy to use introduction to the world of vaping should be well served.
