Review: Turtle & S’mores Brownies by Love’s Oven
After reviewing the Chocolate Chip, Red Velvet, and Peanut Butter Cookies from Love’s Oven, I headed back to The Dispensary Champaign to pick up the brand’s Turtle Brownies and S’mores Brownies.
Each 100mg brownie came wrapped in white parchment paper inside the packaging. The almost inch-thick Turtle Brownies was about the size of a deck of playing cards, and the S’mores Brownies was thinner, about 3/4 inch, with a longer rectangle shape. The size allowed me to eat enough of the brownie for the proper effects without eating a nauseous amount of sweets at one time, especially late at night.

As with the cookies, the overall flavor of the brownies easily passed the “would I eat these if they were not infused” test. The Turtle Brownies was rich but not too decadent with its chocolet chips, homemade caramel sauce, and crunchy pecan pieces. The brownie portion was moist with a medium-light denseness. Together the brownie and toppings match well for one of best chocolaty-sweet treats on dispensary menus in Illinois. The S’mores Brownies mixed the same chocolaty brownie with different toppings. The top of the S’mores Brownies was packed with mini toasted-marshmallows bits and graham cracker crumble for the classic trio of s’mores flavor. Again, as with the cookies, absolutely no cannabis flavor could be detected in the brownies.
The “hybrid” solventless cannabutter used in the brownies delivered a quick onset. The mental effects, as with the cookies, were energetic and relatively clearheaded and functional until the very end of the buzz. The body buzz provided a weighted-blanket feeling for my arms and legs and eventually worked its way to the torso. The head high leaned more sativa, while the body buzz leaned more indica, but once the body buzz took over, the more mentally relaxed I became. Overall, the buzz was long lasting, and the rich brownie flavors were top-notch treats, especially when wanting an alternative to gummies or just wanting a more decadent infused sweet.
The Turtle Brownies ingredients were semi-sweet chocolate chips, light corn syrup, heavy cream, water, sugar, heat-activated cannabutter, egg, self rising flour, pecans, extra brute cocoa powder, salt, instant coffee, and vanilla extract. The S’mores Brownies ingredients were semi-sweet chocolate chips, sugar, heat-activated cannabutter, egg, self rising flour, marshmallow bits, graham cracker crumbs, vanilla extract, extra brute cocoa powder, and salt.
