Review: Vanilla Cake by Floracal
Not too long ago, cake-dominant strains flooded dispensary menus, and I actually complained about the abundance of doughy varieties. Thankfully, the market has since shifted towards fresh flavor profiles, leaving only the cream of the “cake crop” to choose from. Recently, I came across Floracal’s Vanilla Cake at River Bluff Roselle and picked up a sample to test out.
Vanilla Cake is a hybrid cross of Kush Mints and Wedding Cake. This batch of flower tested at 0.12% THC, 26.9% THCa, and 27.02% total cannabinoids.
Inside the jar, I found two long colas and one small popcorn flower, accounting for the total weight. The buds had a bright green hue with occasional pink-purple splashes and thin, wiry orange hairs. While some remnants of sugar leaf were present, the entire bud was covered in a light, milky-colored trichome frost.
The aroma inside the jar was a blend of creamy dough, peanut butter, and vanilla scents, accompanied by underlying hints of earthy soil and musk. Grinding the flower revealed a more savory and herbal profile, with discernible notes of mint and sage. Upon smoking, the creamy cake flavor took center stage in the inhale, complemented by delicate berry notes while the exhale was characterized by earthy soil and subtle musk.
Vanilla Cake had a gradual onset, eventually inducing a strong body sensation and a cerebral fog. Throughout the experience, noticeable physical vibrations moved outward from my core. The combination of heavy body load and a mental haze fostered a state of introspection and contemplation, keeping the mind locked in throughout the duration.
