RISE collects pet supplies for Anderson Humane
We at Illinois News Joint love our pets. The only time in my life I have not had a dog living with me was when I was an undergraduate living in college housing. In general, I’m suspicious of people who don’t enjoy pets, and I have absolutely no tolerance for animal cruelty of any type. While growing up on a farm, my family (specifically my mother) nurtured every stray animal that found our home, and often we traveled to rescue animals from their abusers. So I’m disappointed I didn’t get this news for a charity “pet supplies drive” out sooner, but there is still time to donate before November ends.
Though November is almost over, consider taking part in the Rise Lake in the Hills Pet Supply Drive. During the month of November, Rise Lake in the Hills is collecting donations for a local animal shelter. Rise employees will take all pet donations to Anderson Humane, where many Rise employees obtained their furry friends. The Rise dispensary is located at 270 North Randall Rd., Lake in the Hills, Illinois.
Wish-list donation items include dry or wet dog food, puppy food, cat food, and kitten food and treats. Other wish list items include all sizes of harnesses, collars, and leashes, as well as toys, cat litter, wild bird food, flow feed bowls, and powdered milk for puppies and kittens.
Anderson Humane has one main shelter location at 1000 South La Fox Street in South Elgin and also has a few satellite locations so donations can make a difference for the most pets up for adoption as possible. According to its website, “For more than fifty years, Anderson Humane has been the leading animal welfare organization in our community. We have been dedicated to creating positive connections between people and animals from day one because animals make us better!”
Today, Anderson Humane places more than 4,000 pets into loving homes each year.
“Our innovative programs make the healing presence of animals available to seniors, veterans, and those in crisis,” website states. “We help pet owners provide the best care possible to their dogs, cats, rabbits, turtles, and other animals through free training and resources. Every year, Anderson Humane cares for more than 3,000 injured and orphaned wild animals. Our classes, nature walks, summer camps, and other programs help people appreciate and preserve these animals and their natural habitat.”
