Today, the Illinois Department of Public Health reported April 2022 medical cannabis sales totals. Despite recreations cannabis sales in Illinois setting new record highs for the year and a cannabis-holiday month that usually boosts sales, the medical cannabis sales for April did not share the bounce in total sales as April recreational sales did.
Medical cannabis sales continue to hover in the low $30-million range. Retail sales of medical cannabis for April totaled $31,774,180.50, including $14,443,935.11 in dry flower sales and $ 17,330,245.39 in concentrates/infused-products. Licensed medical cannabis dispensaries served 67,521 unique patients, who purchased 1,157,338 grams of dry cannabis.
April totals of $31,774,180.50 dropped from March’s totals. March’s totals were $31,965,526.26, including $14,595,945.92 in dry flower sales and $17,369,580.34 in concentrates/infused-products. In March, licensed medical cannabis dispensaries served 67,351 unique patients, who purchased 1,165,049 grams of dry cannabis.
April 2022 totals sales were also less than April 2021 totals of $35,281,250.08. April 2022 medical and recreations sales combined totaled $163,555,234.95.
Illinois 2021 sales of medical cannabis totaled $397,249,781.70. Add that to the 2021 recreational cannabis salesof $1,379,088,278.61 for a total of $1,776,338,060.31 in combined medical and cannabis sales.
