Can O’ Comedy to host An Indigenous Christmas event
Can O’ Comedy Inc. is scheduled to host its first event to help kick off its programming of cannabis educational content and comedic entertainment. The An Indigenous Christmas event will help introduce the Can O’ Comedy brand to Illinois and “do something fun for the holidays.”
Can O’ Comedy, a Chicago-based company out of Irving Park, is set to host a Native American holiday dinner and a 30-min cultural presentation from 6-10 p.m. Wednesday, December 21.
Participants for the An Indigenous Christmas event will enjoy an infused holiday meal centered around Indigenous cuisine using ingredients familiar to Indigenous foods cooked and catered by Executive Chef Walks First Jessica Paemonekot. A portion of proceeds will be donated to a 501(c)(3) Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW) and a local foster care organization for children placed in the Illinois Dept. of Child & Family Services.
Included with a ticket will be a 30-min cultural presentation. This event will not feature a comedian. Comedic acts are set to resume for all future shows after this holiday special. After the meal, learn how to bake an edible in a mug with one of three choices: apple pie, pumpkin spice latte, or sugar cookie.
Walks First Jessica Paemonekot is currently the only Native American woman Executive Chef in the Midwest and 1-of-7 Native American Executive Chefs in the country. Paemonekot belongs to the Menominee Tribe and operates Ketapanen Kitchen (Ketapanen to mean a Menominee expression of love).
Address for the event will be given 24-48 hours before the event, but will be located in Irving Park. Tickets can be purchased here.
