“Cannabis Art” Series: Greg
Cannabis artists Greg is not trying to replicate any specific artist or school of art. He’s just trying to do his own thing.
He describes his artistic process as completely random.
“And that’s the way I love it,” he said. “All of my work, I don’t pick out. I let others decide for me. Some projects I’ll attempt to mimic something I’ve seen and provide my own twist to it. But majority of my projects, I make for those in my life, or maybe someone online I met. I let them decide the pigments they want to use, and the rest is thought up on the spot.”
Because of all the work Greg is involved with, he doesn’t “have time to explore other artists” as much as he’d like to. He works with epoxy, marijuana leaves, and anything else he feels like adding.
“I’m starting to see a lot of other amazing epoxy artists on Instagram, and interacting within the community,” Greg said. “But I’m a space case, and responding to my own text messages is a challenge, let alone everyone on social media.”
One artist he has notices as doing amazing work is @constanceneumiller.art and @resin___art.
“(There are) tons of amazing inspirations out there to learn from,” he said.
Greg got involved with cannabis art because of his neighbor, who is an accomplished medical marijuana grower.
“His plants are absolutely beautiful, and we pick all the leaves fresh during various stages of growth,” Greg said. “It started as an idea to cast the bud, leaf, and a name tag for the strain. I had some issues with casting live flowers in epoxy due to the extreme heat, so we gave it a try, and it came out beautiful.”
Greg, like his art, is a jack-of-all trades. While not working on his art, he can be found working as carpenter, firearms instructor, video game mod developer, website designer, and more.
“You name it,” he said. “If it interests me, I’ll try my best to master it.”
