CRI launches YouTube page to highlight research series
Cannabis Research Institute (CRI) recently launched a YouTube page that highlights CRI’s Research Spotlight Series, Public Research Series, and other video media. The most recent video posted included the latest Research Spotlight Series, which discussed evolving federal rules for cannabis and hemp.
In that series, Agnes Balla (UC Office of the President) and Christina Sansone (Cannabis Research Institute) broke down these federal policy changes and discussed what they could mean for cannabis- and hemp-related research. The first internal Research Spotlight Series focused on machine learning and EEG technology to quantify the psychoactive effects of cannabis.
Israel Gasperin, engineering scientist and founder and CEO of Zentrela, discussed EEG-based technology that is redefining how we measure the psychoactive effects of cannabis. After eight years of large-scale, IRB-approved human trials and more than 20,000 EEG scans, Gasperin shared how Zentrela’s technology has:
-Used machine learning to quantify and accelerate research on cannabis’ psychoactive effects
-Enabled rigorous EEG-based studies by non-specialists through portable, user-friendly tools
-Been used in collaborations with hospitals, universities, and R&D labs exploring next-generation cannabis products
Previous Public Research Series include Exploring Cannabis Science and the Endocannabinoid System presented by Dr. Ethan Russo and Introducing the Medical Cannabis Competency Framework: Evidence, Rationale, and Relevance presented by Dr. Leslie Mendoza Temple. Temple also presented a Research Spotlight Series with the same title. Temple is the Owen L. Coon Endowed Chair of Integrative Medicine, Medical Director of the Integrative Medicine Program at Endeavor Health, Clinical Professor of Family Medicine at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, and Chair of the Illinois Medical Cannabis Advisory Board. Russo is an internationally recognized neurologist, psychopharmacology researcher, and cannabis science leader.
