Illinois House Bill to create On-Premise Cannabis Consumption Act
Late last month, Rep. Jawaharial Williams sponsored House Bill 5731, which would create an On-Premise Cannabis Consumption Act that further regulates cannabis consumption for temporary events or venues in Illinois.
The On-Premise Cannabis Consumption Act would:
–Provide that a county or municipality may issue licenses for temporary events and cannabis hospitality venues that will allow for the consumption of cannabis or cannabis-infused products and for the sale of cannabis paraphernalia at such temporary events or venue.
–Require ordinances with specified requirements for such temporary events and cannabis hospitality venues before any licenses are issued.
–Limit home rule powers.
–Make conforming changes to the Smoke Free Illinois Act
