The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) today released its October 2023 medical cannabis sales totals of $26,244,555.82, the first uptick since March 2023. For the last four months, totals have hovered around $26 million. Total 2023 retail sales by licensed medical cannabis dispensaries have totaled $271,357,790.69.

Illinois dispensaries sold $12,439,305.15 in dry flower and $13,805,250.67 in concentrates/infused products. Licensed medical cannabis dispensaries served 62,618 unique patients, who purchased 1,271,270 grams of dry cannabis. The current total number of active patients in the Medical Cannabis Patient Program as of October 31,2023, is 138,616.

Total retail sales since November 2015 by licensed medical cannabis dispensaries totaled $1,910,132,838.71. Total 2023 wholesale sales by cultivation centers reached $360,152,823.62, and total wholesale sales since November 2015 by cultivation centers totaled $3,150,077,632.82. Illinois has been stuck on 55 medical cannabis dispensaries for a several years with no future plans to add more.
