Review: Blueberry AK by matter.
By @Medsforheads
When I took home an eighth of matter’s Blueberry AK from Verilife River North, little did I know that I was strapping in for an emotional roller coaster ride. The strain is a cross of DJ Short’s classic medicinal staple Blueberry and AK-47, a legendary landrace mashup with potent Pine-Sol aromatics that seems to have all but disappeared from modern menus.
With this in mind, I tore open the flower’s informative packaging to find a handful of dry, spindly buds pockmarked with holes that suggested rigorous machine trimming. The primary terpenes included limonene and b-caryophyllene, b-myrcene and alpha-humulene, testing just under half a percent each of the total mass.

A faint earthy smell wafted from the intact nugs, but as I split one open to grind, hidden cheese and pastry notes bombarded my nostrils and immediately rekindled my intrigue, as did the dense collection of developed trichomes on the interior of the flower. As with the Wilson! Zero I recently reviewed, Blueberry AK ground to a fine powder, and as such I suggest dispatching it by hand. The three and a half grams yielded three Sharpie-sized joints that burned fairly smooth but required at least one re-lighting each.
The potpourri of musky campfire, black pepper, skunk and cinnamon bark hung heavy in the air as I smoked, mentally transporting me to high school bowl cruises and dingy concert venues. In this regard, BAK would have blended in with any nameless herb I was lucky to score back then were it not for a compelling cherry Danish flavor that had me smacking my lips after every pull.

At 18.28% THCa, the flower’s effects were mild but therapeutic, smothering both chronic and acute pain while leaving cognitive function fairly untouched as warm relief sprung outward from my core.
Thanks to its attitude-adjusting, inflammation-quelling terps, I found this strain especially welcome on a sleep-deprived day to restore homeostasis and grounding.
