Review: Duct Tape by Island
I’ve been looking for an indica strain that will knock me out late at night. A couple years ago, we reviewed Garlic Z by Island, which was one of the last indica that consistently put me to sleep. When I noticed Island released Duct Tape, another indica-dominant strain, I picked up an eight to review in hopes the strain would do the same.
Duct Tape is an indica-dominant cross of Original Glue (GG4) and Do-Si-Dos, originally bred by Archive Seed Bank. The top terpene included limonene, β-Caryophyllene, and Valencene. This batch tested at 0.288% THC, 27.996%THCa, and 29.682% total cannabinoids. The dense spade-shaped buds, the size of large popcorn, were lime green with olive-green leaves mixed in with rust-colored pistils and a heavy coating of milky trichomes.

The aroma delivered a damp earth, hops, and diesel on the front end with back notes of chocolate powder, nutty spices, minty grass, floral kush, and cat piss. The flavor followed suit with earth, spice, gas, and nutty hops on the front end and added notes of heavy diesel, chocolate, and skunky spice on the back end.
Duct Tape effects delivered one of those buzzes that start like a sativa by lifting energy levels and cerebral thoughts but quickly U-turns toward indica effects. After the initial creative and energizing start, the effects, slowly at first then more quickly later in the buzz, transitioned into a head high that lost it clarity. The overall potency of Duct Tape was strong, delivering a headband pressure in the crown and forehead. The body buzz was heavy, starting out as tingles in the extremities and settling in as a heavy blanket feeling throughout the body.
The stronger the body buzz became the more the head high was dragged down into indica effects. The body buzz, with enough doses, caused a form of couchlock that made my body more lazy than unmovable. Instead of a lethargic and drowsy effects, Duct Tape provided a happy and euphoric relaxation as a head high and a heavy body buzz that left me unmotivated to move. The effects did not become sedative until the very end of the buzz, which made the strain suited for early and late-night use. Duct Tape also boosted my appetite after each smoke session.
